MOTHSTAR
Name: Mothkit Mothpaw Mothheart Mothstar
Clan: Windclan
Age: 32 Moons
Gender: she-cat
Rank: Leader
Appearance:
Mothstar has an orange pelt with a tabby pattern interrupted only by the occasional patch of white. Her pelt is short and well kept, showing off a lean form that was honed from years of running. Her eyes are a dull green, resembling a meadow in late leaf-fall, and her gaze is extremely piercing. She is always scanning her surrounding and those around her, her eyes taking in every detail. She looks as if she is angry most of the time but that is just her resting expression. She is fair in size and height, nothing about her appearance any different then another she-cat her age.
Personality:
wary, strict, loyal, kind, selfless
Mothstar is a hesitant cat, always scanning the world around her in fear of an attack. She puts her clan before herself, always trying to determine if there is a way she can provide something for them. She does not trust any cat outside of her clan, believing that they will only bring misfortune with them. She is a stickler for the rules and believes firmly in the Starclan seeing anyone who goes against them as traitors. As a result many outside of her clan see her as a tyrant. Yet she treats her clanmates with the gentleness of a mother. She is always checking on elders, speaking with apprentices, and even visiting those who are sick in the medicine cat's den. She will listen to any concern a member of her clan has, always trying to help them to the best of her ability.
History:
Kithood
Mothstar, born Mothkit, was one of three kits born to Goldenleaf. It was late leaf-fall and unfortunately the other two kits did not survive more than a few days, dying only days after Goldenleaf's mate was killed by a badger. Goldenleaf was devastated and refused to look at her remaining kit, and so, the responsibility fell to an older queen named Hollyclaw. She treated the young kit well, and Mothkit grew up believing that Hollyclaw was her real mother instead. Growing up alongside Hollyclaw's two kits, Adderkit and Nightkit, Mothkit found herself surrounded by love and acceptance. Her foster father, Crowfang, adored the little kits from the moment he laid eyes on them. He would visit the den whenever he could, wrapping the three little kits up in his tail and telling them stories of grand battles. Mothkit would listen in awe, always reenacting the scenes with her brothers as they played, always declaring herself the mighty leader that would lead her clan to victory.
Apprentice
Mothkit became Mothpaw along with her adoptive siblings on a warm day in mid green-leaf. The leader paired her with a long legged tom named Redtail who had just recently become a warrior himself. Mothpaw fell in love with him the moment she saw him, always eager to make him proud. She would work herself to the point of exhaustion, always returning to the apprentice den with fresh nicks and a wounded pride. But, she never gave up, putting everything in her being into becoming a powerful warrior.
This determination caught the eye of Goldenleaf, who would sneak out to watch her kit practice with Redtail. Once she saw how much the apprentice resembled her mate she decided that she wanted her kit back in her life. So, in front of the whole clan, she confronted Mothpaw and revealed her true parentage. Mothpaw's whole world was thrown into chaos upon learning this, everything she knew revealing itself to be false. So she shut down, cutting out both her birth mother and her foster family, refusing to allow anyone into her life anymore. The only one who could get through to her was Redtail, who offered her support when she felt she had none. It was thanks to him that Mothpaw did not turn completely cold.
Warrior
Mothheart, they had called her, a name she took pride in receiving. Redtail had cried her name the loudest, his eyes sparkling with emotions even she couldn't read. The two would soon fall into a whirlwind romance becoming mates before the end of leaf-bare. Redtail wanted kits, but after trying for so long, Mothheart discovered she could not have them. She would lose litter after litter, her heart breaking a little more each time did. Yet Redtail remained at her side, always offering her his seemingly endless support.
Soon the leader assigned her an apprentice, a small tom named Volepaw. He was a nervous apprentice, always ducking away from anything he believed could cause him harm. She tried to push him to be a bit braver, but he would not budge, always cowering from everything. This, unfortunately, led to his death during a scuffle at the Riverclan boarder. Mothheart was devastated by his death, blaming herself. Though she was assigned many more apprentices after him his death had left its mark on her.
Soon, Redtail had become deputy, and she could do nothing but rejoice for her mate. He was the best choice, always caring for his fellow clanmates. For a time, all was well, until one fateful day during leaf-fall. It was meant to be a regular patrol, Mothheart had been too tired to go with her mate on a routine check of the Riverclan border when tragedy had struck. Redtail and his small patrol were attacked, whether by Riverclan cats or rouges no one can say, but with Goldenleaf's disappearance and Riverclan scent in the area the whole clan suspected foul play. Two members of the patrol were killed, her foster brother Adderfang and Redtail. The two survivors manage to limp back to camp and share the tragic news. Mothheart was devastated, believing if she had been there with her mate he would have survived.
Deputy
Only shortly after this event she took her mates place as deputy, determined to honor Redtail through her actions. But, she was not Redtail, and constantly fumbled her words when trying to speak to cats the way he used to. She lacked his tact and charasima, resulting in her ending up in more then one awkward situation. So she stopped trying to be Redtail, accepting that she would never be able to help people like him. So she did what only she could do and became a silent, reassuring force in battle. She would throw herself into her duty with everything she had, whether it be mentoring or simply ensuring order within the clan. Her heart never healed from her mates death, and her sadness only grew worse as she found out the truth behind his death. He was killed by Goldenleaf and a Riverclan warrior, she had discovered it a few moons later, and though both cats had been exhiled she still hungered for revenge. The leader, Pinestar, saw this within her. It worried him, but before he could act on it a fire struck and took his final life. Mothheart, officially cold towards the world, set off the next day to receive her 9 lives.
